Contributions & Personal Projects

Contributions at Hiyield

A selection of client projects I worked on during my four and a half years at Hiyield. You can read more about my role there in the career section.

Hub of Hope

The UK's largest mental health support directory: a full-stack web app built with Nuxt, TypeScript and Firebase.

  • Vue
  • Nuxt
  • TypeScript
  • Firebase
  • Played a key role in technical planning, mapping out the data structures and TypeScript types ahead of the build to keep later sprints running smoothly
  • Helped build custom UI components, the account login system and the user dashboard
  • Developed API endpoints and the service search and filtering features
  • Worked on the client's admin dashboard, including a preview system for approving or requesting changes to users' draft services
  • Contributed to creating the service registration flow, including schema validation and error handling

Open Up Music

A website for a charity making music more accessible to young disabled people, built on WordPress with a bespoke theme and custom ACF blocks.

  • WordPress
  • PHP
  • ACF
  • Tailwind
  • Worked with the design team to turn mock-ups into a consistent theme design system
  • Built flexible content blocks that make it easy for the client to update their own site
  • Created custom post types with dedicated templates for Events and Stories

Zero100

A website for a thought-leadership community of global supply chain leaders, built as a bespoke WordPress theme.

  • WordPress
  • PHP
  • Gutenberg
  • Turned the client's AI-generated HTML mock-up into dynamic, editable content blocks
  • Built custom blocks and block patterns to simplify the client's editing experience
  • Helped migrate blog posts from the old site and adapted the post template to the new design system

Personal projects

A couple of ongoing side projects: one to make my own development work easier, and one with start-up potential. Mostly, though, I just love building things.

PHP App Starter

A lightweight starter template for building PHP web apps without a framework. It provides a working foundation (routing, database, auth and a front-end build) so I can skip the setup and get straight to building features. This portfolio is built on it.

  • PHP
  • JavaScript
  • Vite
  • Tailwind
  • Docker

ShapeHub

A work-in-progress marketplace where surfers can buy and sell surfboards. It's a full-stack app built with Nuxt and Firebase, with an advanced search and filtering system powered by custom Algolia indexing to help surfers find the right board.

  • Vue
  • Nuxt
  • TypeScript
  • Firebase
